Blue Water Surf Camp Review

But why choose this camp? What does it have to offer that others don’t?

This review will look at everything that makes the Blue Water Surf Camp stand out from the crowd. From its beginner surfing programs to detailed water safety lessons, we’ll help you to understand what this camp is really about.

Where Is It Located?

Blue Water Surf Camp can be found in the town of Jupiter, located in Palm Beach County, Florida.

A hidden paradise, the beaches here offer miles of stunning natural landscapes, timeless lighthouse views and a laid-back atmosphere that will make even the most drab day shine much brighter.

Jupiter is also known for having many golf courses, making it one of Florida’s most prominent sporting areas in and out of the waves!

What Is Blue Water Surf Camp?

Blue Water Surf Camp has rightfully earned its place as south Florida’s premier surf camp.

It has been in operation since 1996 and is led by the expert team at Blue Water School of Surfing, who have shared their deep passion and adoration for the surfing sport to thousands of individuals over the years.

Aimed at children aged 6 and up, Blue Water Surf Camp encourages young, keen surfers to get involved with all things surf.

From learning basic practical techniques to ensuring the safety of yourself and others around you while in the water, this particular daytime camp offers you a relevant and comprehensive opportunity to get to grips with the important aspects of surfing.

In terms of seasons, the camp is open for Spring Break (March – April) and Summer (May – September). Despite being months apart, both variations of the surf camp follow a similar schedule with the same instructors.

This means that you will have plenty of opportunity to learn new surfing skills regardless of the time of year! To keep things fair, the classes are divided by age and skill level, which ensures that each kid gets the most out of their experience.

In each class, you will be provided with a surfboard and any other necessary surfing gear. This is included in the weekly cost of the camp, so you don’t have to worry about splurging on expensive equipment!

Really, the only things you need to bring with you to this camp are food and water, beach shoes, a towel, sunscreen, a hat, and, most importantly, a good attitude!

You may need to bring snorkeling gear, but the team will provide more information as and when that is necessary.

With a convenient low maintenance packing requirement and highly informative sports and safety-based classes available, what’s not to love?

What To Expect

Surfing

There are many things to expect in terms of surfing at Blue Water Surf Camp. Most importantly, the camp centers all of its activities around surfing and ocean safety to educate you while allowing you to have lots of fun.

Throughout your time at the camp, you will be taught the fundamentals of water safety in an encouraging, exciting yet still laid back environment.

If you’re a beginner surfer, you’ll be given the chance to build your confidence in and out of the water under expert guidance, while simultaneously accelerating your surfing skills and your general knowledge of the sport.

However, if you already know the fundamentals of how to surf, you will be taught competitive strategies that will push you out of your comfort zone!

Please note that those attending the camp at a beginner to intermediate level will be working in the stunning waters of Ocean Kay Park. If you’re operating at a more advanced level, you will be tackling the waves at Jupiter Beach Park.

Secondly, as a surfing student, you will also experience underwater endurance training at this camp. Holding your breath under the water is one of the most important skills that you will need to take with you into the surfing world.

By teaching you how to control your breath in this environment, you will be able to increase your core engagement and improve your lung function.

This is a universal skill that will continue to come in handy, especially if you decide to continue your journey into the world of surfing. Knowing you’ll be able to get yourself out of a tricky situation will be very reassuring not only to you, but also to everyone you know!

Finally, if you have any doubts about your safety while out in the water, think again! All utilized surfing areas are monitored by qualified Blue Water lifeguards.

Using stand-up paddleboards and Blue Water jet ski’s, they can quickly provide help if you find yourself in a bit of difficulty. Additionally, the instructor ratio is 1 to every 2-5 students, depending on the conditions.

Having so many safety precautions put in place will get you on your way to feeling far more confident in the water!
